Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Rest in Peace
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
Isn't it true irony of life that Syd had to leave it while Roger is celebrating a renaissance of their music...
Rest easy Roger.
It has been nearly a month now, and I still have not ventured to put a Syd cd on the stereo. Just sort of letting it rest and letting it sink in. A couple of nights ago I went to see the Coffee Sergeants play here in Austin, and I was very pleased that they did two Barrett tunes in tribute.
Is there anybody out there more for such brilliant music like master of music, Roger Keith barret, made? Let us have high hopes...
sleep in rest, mister!
