Dancing in the Moonlight
One of my first blog entries in 2005 was about the Maltese blogosphere, which I saw on the verge of a great expansion. Sure enough, that ground swell came by the end of spring, but things seem to have calmed down a little in the last couple of months.
So, at the start of 2006, I thought it would be good to share 4 lists with my blog readers. Blogs are listed here in no particular order, even though I do like some more than others.
10 Maltese blogs I follow regularly:
MaltaGirl
Lost in Thought
Xemx u Xita
Ta' Barra Mod Ieħor
Ajjut! Ajjut!
J'Accuse
Lanzarote
Ugh!!'s GreyMatter Honeypot
Nurse Life
Malta, 9 Tremidor
I've left out Wired Temples and Pierre J. Mejlak's Blog from this list since they are now an integral part of the MaltaMedia Online Network. Needless to say, they're at the top of the list of Maltese blogs I read. There are a couple of other Maltese blogs I follow quite regularly, (such as this or this and this as well as others) but I prefer lists in tens. Maybe next time I'll do fifteens.
Here are another three lists just to show that my personal blog reader is well stacked.
10 blogs Maltese I wish were more active:
Il-Blobb tas-Sibt Filgħaxija
Triq il-Maqluba
Ħsejjes Innoċenti
Xemx, Wisq Sabiħa
Kenneth's Online Repository
Xifer
Bertu tal-Angli
Chef Condom
nigredo
blog.faħmu.net
10 non-Maltese blogs I follow regularly:
Lessig Blog
Smart Mobs
Writing & the Digital Life
timbl's blog
Read/WriteWeb
networked_performance
Life Hacker
boing boing
Il Blog di Beppe Grillo
PostSecret
10 new Maltese blogs I'm keeping an eye on:
Real Virtuality
Reesa's Blog
Zemploid's Orbit
Reflections Through Cyberspace
Writings of a Caoimhin
Ħġejjeġ
Building my Dreams from Moondust....?!
The day I attended to my funeral
skutella's blog
Tingiza
There are actually a number of other new blogs I'm keeping an eye on (such as this and this, to mention just two) but I decided that all the lists on this post will be made up of no more than 10 links each. I should also add that this last list is the most fluid one of all the above lists.
If you're not familiar with the Maltese blogosphere, and would like to see more Maltese blogs, I suggest you have a look at the aboutmalta.com section on blogs.
I'm not going to *sniff* be offended that I'm not *sniff* on the list *sniff* really I'm not *sob*

G, I must admit that your blog should have made the list of new blogs I'm keeping an eye on. In fact, I'm going to add a sentence that says this right now. How's that? ;-)
Thanks for pointing out my mindless omission.
I'm glad I'm not the only one following PostSecret. I think it's an excellent project.
Ok you're forgiven :P :)
Thanks for including me in the list of blogs you regularly check out. Really proud! :) I havent written anything for a while now, but that's just because I'm currently passing through my "what-the-hell-am-I-going-to-do-with-my-life-before-it's-over" period.
Just went through the ten blogs you follow regularly:
MaltaGirl
Lost in Thought
Xemx u Xita
Ta' Barra Mod Ieħor
Ajjut! Ajjut!
J'Accuse
Lanzarote
Ugh!!'s GreyMatter Honeypot
Nurse Life
Malta, 9 Tremidor
I must say you're either not a very busy man or you don't have much else to read on a regular basis. But, if that's the gist of the Maltese blogosphere, then I really don't know what's all this fuss all about.
Ton, what a great idea... there are a few links there I have never visited *grin* so I am looking forward to exploring them tonight while I eat my dinner (which shall include gbejna!)
This last comment by CC Camilleri has really set me thinking. One of the things I have been thinking about is whether the blog readership is contrived rather than real (viz my last post and David at Lanzarote has also asked whether blogs are really being read)... an interesting point to explore is that if we want the Maltese blogosphere to be noted, we have to write consistently well. Because if someone surfs onto a blog and the last post is shite, they'll just move on to the next one. Might write more about this later on mine! (Or I may not in which case this comment will have to suffice.)
Blogs are on the decline, Ton.
Locally, you mean?
Stagno, I never got your ecard. At least you have greetings from my end of year blog entry.
As for blogs on the decline, I don't know what you mean. The quality of the local blogosphere is not as rich as it was about six months ago. That's true. You are partly to blame for this Guz! However, the quantity of blogs is on the rise, not just locally but worldwide. Blogs are no longer not a fad. More about this in my next blog post, I think.
thanks for liking my blog. as with everything i do, i take writing seriously and i love it when people appreciate it...
just one thing i want to make clear...i often make fun of patients and ppl ask me if im in the right profession...i can assure everyone that i am and i use humour as a cover up. not to mention, i really do find the things other people do as hilarious and instead of smiling to my self, i laugh out loud :)
